AT-KABUL: Sixty eight Taliban fighters were killed and31others were wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours.
Ministry of Defense said that the national army with the cooperation of the national police and National Directorate of Security conducted operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Khost, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Farah, Jawzjan, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations, 68 rebels were killed and 31others were injured,” the ministry said Monday in a statement.
“The national army also arrested seven insurgents and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry.”
It discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well, according to the statement.
“Unfortunately, 21 army soldiers were killed in the operations.”
