AT-KABUL: Sixty nine Taliban fighters were killed and 28 others were wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours, security officials said Thursday.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Uruzgan, Logar, Nimroz, Kunduz, Ghor and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations 69rebelsincludingTaliban group leader were killed and 28otherswere injured,” the statement said.
Two rebels was arrested and handed over to judicial organs for further inquiry.
It said the ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
Unfortunately, nine army soldiers were killed in the operations, according to the statement.
