KABUL: Afghan National Police (ANP) officers have discovered and confiscated at least 70 roadside bombs in southern Helmand province, ministry of interior said Sunday.
ANP has carried out clearance crackdowns in Garmsir and Greshk districts of Helmand, in which they discovered and seized 70 various types of roadside bombs and some amounts of light and heavy ammunition, the ministry said in a statement.
Three Taliban militants were killed and six other injured during these clearance operations, the statement said, adding the Afghan forces have also destroyed 15 Taliban’s hideouts during crackdowns.
ANP succeeded to prevent many tragedy incidents by seizing these bombs. It is worth mentioning that Taliban insurgents using roadside bombs as one of their tool against Afghan and foreign forces that unfortunately ends up with killing and injuring of innocent Afghans.
