By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: The Afghanistan Freedom House on Tuesday released a survey revealing that 70 percent responders were not satisfied with the parliament members’ performances in the past six years.
The survey titled ‘parliamentarians’ performances from people views’ covered 7,367 people including 71 percent male and 29 percent women in 34 provinces.
“Survey finding shows 70 percent of responders believe the parliament members were not operated according to their duties,” said Senior Researcher for Afghanistan Freedom House Sayed Roohollah Rezvani.
He said that 45 percent of the interviewees believed that lawmakers never followed their main duties, which are included monitoring of government performances, legislation and relation with the people to address their challenges.
“The survey demonstrated that legislators sequentially prefer personal, tribal interests to the national interests during duties,” he added.
Over 50 percent of responders said that parliamentarian never considered justice, balance and professionalism during approval of fiscal budget, he claimed.
Survey findings revealed that 37 percent of people think that lawmakers directly linked to the increasing of corruption across the country. 47 percent of interviewees said that legislators referring for to the governmental organs for their own interests.
Most of the people believes that lawmakers never were punctual during plenaries, mentioned survey.
Survey finding showed, 66 percent of provincial responders believed that parliamentarians never performed as representative of their provinces.
67 percent of people also said that lawmakers never visited their provinces to discuss people challenges in their localities.
The survey documented that 64 percent of interviewees said that they will never give vote to the current lawmakers in next parliamentarian election.
The survey released by Afghanistan Freedom House, while relation between government and parliament lead to tense recently over suspension of seven ministers.
Recently Wolesi Jirga (lower house) of parliament sacked seven ministers, who failed to spent development by 70 percent during outgoing fiscal year. Government did not accept the decision and based on report some report president Ghani want to refer the issue to Supreme Court.
It is pertained to mention that Afghanistan Freedom House is a research organization which till date has conducted to survey over breaching of constitution of Afghanistan and usurpation of land in the country.
