KABUL: At least 71 Taliban militants have been killed and two others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Saturday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Laghman, Badghis, Farah, Herat, Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, Helmand, Balkh, Jawzjan, Kapisa, Kandahar, Paktika and Baghlan provinces, in which 71 militants were killed and two others wounded.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations, 27 militants were killed in Alishing district of Laghman—eight insurgents killed in Balamurghab district of Badghis—eight rebels killed in Qala-e-Kah district of Farah—five rebels killed in Pashton Zarghon district of Heart—five insurgents including a Taliban local commander were killed in Surkhrod district of Nangarhar, four militants were killed and one vehicle of the enemy destroyed in Chak and Daimirdad districts of Maidan Wardak—four militants killed, two others wounded and a position was destroyed in Nahr-e-Saraj district of Helmand—three rebels killed in Chamtal and Charbolak districts of Bakh—two militants were killed in Aqcha district of Jawzjan province.
Similarly, one insurgent was killed in Nijrab district of Kapisa—one militant killed in Maiwand district of Kandahar—one rebels killed in Zurmat district of Paktika—one insurgent killed in Hussain Khil area, capital of Baghlan province.
In past 24 hours, 13 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 22 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
