AT-KABUL: At least 73 Taliban fighters were killed and 30 others wounded in different crackdowns within the past 24 hours.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) had conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. In these operations 30 rebels were killed and 15 others injured.
Unfortunately, seven ANA soldiers also lost their lives in the operations, added the statement.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said that 43 rebels were killed and 15 others wounded in joint operations conducted in Takhar, Faryab, Kandahar, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Herat and Helmand provinces within the past 24 hours.
Two insurgent were arrested by ANP and were handed over to the relevant judicial body for interrogation. ANA and ANP discovered and confiscated huge cache of weapons and ammunition in these operations, mentioned the statement.
