AT-KABUL: At least eight people were killed and over 40 others including women and children injured in a deadly traffic accident on the Kabul-Nimroz highway in southern Helmand province on Monday, a provincial official said.
“A bus carrying passengers overturned on Kabul-Nimroz highway this morning in the Washer district,” provincial spokesman Omar Zwak said.
Zwak added that the bus was heading from Nimroz province to the capital Kabul.
In a similar incident two days ago in the outskirts of Herat province, at least 11 people were killed and six others injured.
The incident took place as the passengers were on their way towards a recreational area to celebrate the New Year.
Most of the traffic accidents take place due to bad conditions of the roads, lack of traffic signs and drivers’ recklessness.
