87 insurgents killed in raids

AT-KABUL: At least 87 militants have been killed and 23 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Monday.

In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Urzgan, Zabul, Herat, Faryab, Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces, in which 87 insurgents including 19 Daesh were killed and 23 others wounded.

Afghan forces also arrested three rebels, handing them over judicial organs for further inquiry, the statement added.

Afghan National and Defense Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, 29 Taliban fighters including Taliban deputy military in charge Qari Zubair were killed, seven wounded and one arrested in Shiki and Sakhi Arbab villages of Khwaja Sabz Posh district of Faryab, one mortar with two rifles of weapons also seized in the district–19 Daesh affiliates were killed in Papeen and Gorgori villages of Deh Bala district of Nangarhar–19 insurgents killed, two wounded and two others arrested in Dehrawod district and Shah Mansour area center of Urzgan–six rebels killed and five others wounded in Abband and Andar districts of Ghazni province.

Similarly, five militants killed and three others wounded in Daichopan district of Zabul–five insurgents killed, three wounded and one arrested in Pashtoon Zarghon district of Herat–four terrorists killed and three others wounded in Dasht Qala district of Takhar province.

In past 24 hours, nine planed clearing operations, and three Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 103 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 10 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
