KABUL: At least 88 drug runners, including a woman,, were sent behind bars in the past one week.
The Courts of Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said that 14 drug traffickers sentenced to four and half-30 year’s incarceration after examining their dossiers by primary court by the appeal court of CJTF.
The CJTF in a statement said that 74 others were also sentenced to several years of imprisonment by the appeal court of CJTF.
Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has seized 284kg heroin, 35kg morphine, 151kg opium, 176kg hashish, 42kg crystal and 6752 liters of alcoholic beverages from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, the statement mentioned.
At the same period, CNP and other intelligence forces had arrested 21 suspected drug traffickers, including a woman during operation in different provinces. Dossiers of the detained drug runners have been sent to the related organs for further inquiry.
These culprits were detained with drugs in Kabul, Kandahar, Parwan and Nangarhar provinces.
According to the statement, after examining their evidence and arguments from both sides, the CJTF court has convicted the accused traffickers.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics Law of Afghanistan.
