AT-KABUL: Ninety-two Taliban militants were killed across the country in the past 24 hours, the ministry of defense said Saturday in statement.
The national army with the cooperation of national police and national directorate of security conducted military operations against insurgents in different areas of Paktika, Baghlan, Laghman and Faryab provinces.
The statement added that unfortunately, 11 soldiers were also killed in the operation.
In a separate operation, the national directorate of security seized a large cache of automatic weapons and explosives in western Farah province.
The NDS said in a statement its operatives seized and confiscated different weapons including 31 RPG 7 grenade launcher rounds, two 82mm cannon rounds, one mortar round, one Motorola radio handset with three batteries and charger, two grenade launchers, 20 fuses, 80 meter Prem card Lane, four kilograms of explosives, one remote control, two of anti-vehicle mines.
It added that the Taliban insurgents wanted to carry out an attack in different areas of Farah province that fortunately were prevented.
