AT-PESHAWAR: The Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province and the district administration has sealed the Imam Ghazali Medical University in Peshawar.
Facing uncertain future, the Afghan students asked the provincial government to reopen the university.
Afghan students during a news conference in Peshawar said that their future was at stake as they could not continue their studies if the university was not reopened. They said that the sealing of the university was a major threat to their future.
Pak-Afghan Students Federation President, Naik Muhammad, said that the students had already paid high fees over the last five years.
Criticizing the Afghan authorities, he said the students have also asked the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar to take action and get the university registered, but no action was taken.
The university was sealed by the HERA and Peshawar district administration after the varsity administration failed to register the university. The decision has threatened the future of scores of Afghan students.
The medical university was sealed two days ago. According to HERA the university was neither registered with the Pakistani governor nor Afghan government.
