AT-KABUL: Governor of the eastern Nangarhar province, Salim Khan Kunduzi, barred government officials from depositing budgetary allocations in their personal bank accounts.
The governor said that no one was authorized by the government or law of the land to deposit the budgetary allocations in their own bank accounts.
The warning came after local media reported that some officials in the province were depositing the budgetary allocations in their personal accounts.
The provincial governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told media that the officials have been warned of disciplinary action if found depositing the budgetary allocations.
He said the governor has been very clear in his warning to the officials as the practice was illegal and needed to be discouraged.
The spokesman further said the governor has ordered the disaster management officials in the province to purchase edible and non-edible items for the earthquake-affected families in Nangarhar. He said that five million Afghanis have been allocated for this purpose.
