AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Afghan security forces foiled a coordinated attack of the Islamic State (IS), also known as Daesh, on a check posts in eastern Nangarhar province.
The provincial police spokesman, Colonel Hazrat Hussian Mashriqiwal, said that militants stormed security checkpoints in Pandola and Girdi areas of Achin district. However, Afghan forces managed to repel the attack and inflect losses on the militants.
He added that one rebel was killed and two others wounded during the fighting.
He said that there were no casualties to security forces and civilians.
All though Mashriqiwal didn’t mention the name of the militant groups, Achin district of Nangarhar his considered as stronghold of Daesh fighters.
