AT-KABUL: At least 27 Taliban militants have been killed in a joint operation of Afghan security forces and NATO air force in northern Kunduz province, said a local official on Tuesday.
Kunduz Police Chief, Muhammad Qasim Jangal Bagh, said that Afghan forces in a clearance operation in the outskirts of Kunduz city killed 27 militants, including five Taliban commanders and wounded 11 others.
He said that a number of areas had been cleared of the Taliban militants and Afghan security forces were moving forward.
Jangal Bagh said that Afghan forces were conducting the offensives during night. He added that there were no casualties to Afghan forces and civilians.
He said that two tanks, two military vehicles, an ambulance and a Hilux model car of the Taliban insurgents were destroyed.
