AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Ghulam Naser Khaze has been appointed as new governor of Ghor province, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) said.
According to a brief statement of the IDLG, Khaze was recommended by the IDLG and approved by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
The newly appointed Ghor’s governor belongs to Herat province.
He was heading campaign for Abdullah Abdullah during the presidential election.
The ex-governor Seema Joyenda was appointed governor of the province in June. At the time, she became one of just two women provincial governors. On previous Thursday, Joyenda was removed from her post and appointed as deputy governor of Kabul. According to Joyenda the decision was made by the government after coming under pressure of influential people.
Ghor is one of the restive provinces in the country, where a young girl Rokhsana was accused of adultery and was forced into deep hole in the ground. A group of militants stoned her to death in November.
