By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: A suicide car bomber targeted a foreign convoy on the Hamid Karzai International Airport road in Kabul on Monday morning. A civilian was killed and 31 others were injured, said officials.
Confirming the suicide attack, Deputy Spokesman of Ministry of Interior, Najeeb Danish, said that a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into the foreign convoy in Hawa Shanasi area at 8:00 am. However, he did not provide information about casualties suffered by the foreign troops.
Kabul Police Chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi said that the car exploded in a crowded area, as a result one civilian was killed and 13 others wounded.
Meanwhile, Spokesman for Ministry of Public Health Ismail Kawosi said that one dead body and 31 injured people were shifted to the hospitals in the capital city after the suicide attack.
He said that eight children were among the wounded people.
Resolute Support spokesman, US Army Col. Michael Lawhorn, said that they are aware of the reports and are looking into it.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in a media statement said that foreign troops came under attack of the group on the airport road. He claimed the foreign troops suffered heavy casualties.
