AT-KABUL: Three Afghan women and one child have been died after their boat heading towards Greece sank in the Aegean Sea, Turkish news agency reported Tuesday.
“Turkish coast guards on Monday rescued eight others, including a child,” said the Anadulo news agency, without identifying them.
The boat sank 200 meters from the beach of Ayvajik, which hundreds of refugees cross everyday to go to Greece.
Hundreds of thousands of refugees mostly Afghans and Syrians have traveled toward Europe through Turkey since the beginning of 2015.
They choose the risky ways to get a so-called ‘safe life in Europe’, but face the death threat on their ways especially when they go to Greece by the smugglers’ boats.
Elsewhere, Germany announced it has imposed tougher measures to control its border with Austria. More than 200 refugees reportedly enter Germany from the neighboring Austria daily.
Germany, Denmark and Sweden have recently tightened border controlling to prevent the surge of refugees and migrants.
