AT-KABUL: At least 13 civilians have been killed and 14 others injured when a suicide bomber targeted house of an Afghan official on Sunday in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said.
The bomber targeted a meeting in third police district of Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar today morning.
“We have now 13 people killed and 14 others injured in today’s suicide bombing” Ataullah Khogianai, the governor’s spokesman told Afghanistan Times.
The attack happened inside house of Obaidullah Shinwari, a member of the Nangarhar provincial council he said where a meeting was about to start with several participants.
All injured from the powerful bombing were shifted to nearby hospitals, where some of the injured were in critical health condition another official said.
The attacked house is belongs to Obaidullah Shinwari, a member of the Nangarhar provincial council, who was not present during the attack.
Shinwari’s brother, who was recently released from Taliban captivity in Nangarhar is among killed and his father among injured persons Khogianai said.
A source, who wished anonymity told Afghanistan Times, Shinwari has been among those officials and politicians who are part of the anti-Daesh campaign in Nangarhar, but he did not blame Daesh for the attack.
Daesh claimed responsibility for a group suicide attack on Pakistani consulate this week in Jalalabad in which seven policemen were killed and 10 more were injured.
Taliban rejected their involvement in Nangarhar bombing in a statement and said their fighters were not behind the attack that killed several people.
