AT-KABUL: Pakistan police have detained more than 50 Afghan migrants in a search operation in different parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistani media reported Monday.
Pakistani security forces carried out raids in Karkhano Market, Ashnaghari and Qazi Qala, arresting 159 people, including 55 Afghans.
Police have said that the detained Afghans were living in Pakistan without legal documents, while some of them were involved in crimes there.
Pakistani police accelerated detaining and deporting Afghan migrants since an army-run school came under terrorist attacks in December 2014.
Millions of Afghans started migration to the neighboring Iran and Pakistan after the country was invade by the then Soviet in 1979.
About three million Afghans are reportedly living in Pakistan, mostly in the border province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
