AT-KABUL: The Human Rights Watch (HRW) Saturday asked the government to investigate last week’s raids on a health center in Wardak province.
This health center located in Diamirdad district is funded by the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, an organization active in health and education sectors.
A statement issued by the Swedish Committee said that Afghan army killed two and injured an 11-year-old child.
Provincial spokesman Tooryalai Hemmat said that four militants were killed in the “operation”.
The HRW urged Afghan government to investigate the operation on the medical center.
It added that two patients and two nurses were killed.
The watchdog insisted the intention of such attacks on health center and killing civilians are “war crimes”.
It asked the government to prosecute those involved in the raid.
“President Ashraf Ghani needs to send a clear message to the Afghan army that killing hospital patients deserves severe punishment,” HRW’s senior researcher Patricia Gossman said.
