AT-Kabul: Ministry of Defense in a statement on Wednesday said that as the result of different clearing operations in various parts of the country, at least 18 insurgents have been killed, 15 others injured and 101 AK-47 machineguns as well as some pistols were confiscated.
The statement said that the crackdown launched by the 205 Atal military corps in the Dehrawood district of southern Uruzgan province killed eight insurgents and wounded 12 more.
According to the statement, the Afghan National Army seized three motorcycles, and exploded tens of anti-vehicle mines planted by the Taliban insurgents to target the civilians and the security forces.
Ministry of Defense in another statement said that, the Afghan National Security Forces conducted a joint supporting operation in the Asmar district of Kunar province in the east against Taliban fighters in which 10 insurgents were killed and three others injured. The operation was backed by the Afghan air force.
According to the statement, the 201 Silab Corps launched a clearing operation in the Jabul Saraj district of Parwan province in north of the capital in which 101 AK-47 rifles and some pistols as well as 24,680 deferent bullets were confiscated.
