AT-KABUL: Thirty-nine Taliban fighters have been killed and 17 others wounded in different military operations in the past 24 hours in different provinces, security officials said.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the defense ministry said that Afghan National Army with the collaboration of Afghan National Police and National Directorate of Security (NDS), conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Kunduz, Uruzgan and Nangarhar provinces. In these operations, 39 rebels were killed and 17 others were injured.
Three suspects were arrested and handed over to judiciary organs for further inquiries.
Unfortunately, 11 army soldiers were killed in the operations as result of enemy firing, said the statement.
Also the army discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations, mentioned the statement.
