AT-KABUL: Eight young innovators received awards from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) for the development of innovative ICT and mobile technology based solutions which address various governance and public service challenges.
DEWAE (Innovation Beacon) is the initiative of MCIT. The program is aimed to strengthen the culture of innovation in the country and be an effective catalyst for sustained development of the country’s ICT industry.
In his speech at the awards ceremony, the deputy minister of MCIT, Aimal Marjan, said that the ministry has initiated the DEWAE program in 2012 to encourage the youth to offer their ideas for solving the current challenges.
He said the ministry announced various challenges and sought proposals from the young innovators to come up with ideas and solutions in field of mobile technology.
The winners who received the awards had innovative ideas in areas of corruption prevention, easy education for children, bookstore in mobile phones, identification of expired drugs and information about flights at the airport.
The deputy minister said that the solutions provided by the winners would be implemented though the relevant administrations with technical cooperation of MCIT.
