AT-KABUL: At least two passengers were killed and three others injured in eastern Laghman province, when a car crashed into a truck on Kabul-Jalalabad highway on Sunday morning, an official said.
“The deadly head-on collision took place today (Sunday) morning at 5:30am in Kas area of Qarghaee district of Laghman province,” Sarhadi Zwak, spokesman for Laghman governor, said to Afghanistan Times.
All victims of the accident are men. The three injured persons were rushed to the Surkhakan emergency clinic and after getting first aid they were sent to neighboring Nangarhar for further treatment, he said.
The highway police in its initial investigation report said that the incident happened due to carelessness of the car driver.
Narrowness of the roads, poor conditions of vehicles and lack of capacity of the drivers are the main factors blamed for the deadly traffic accidents in Afghanistan, where 3,000 people lose their lives annually.
