AT-KABUL: Two school students were killed and four others injured after a rocket landed on a school in Mehtarlam city, in the eastern Laghman province, education ministry said Tuesday.
“The rocket landed at the vicinity of Shahid Maulavi Habib-ur-Rehman high school this morning,” the ministry said in a statement.
It identified the students as Mohammad Shakir and Mohammad Zakir.
The ministry “strongly” condemned the attack on the school, urging the security organs to hold immediate steps in arresting the perpetrators of the attack.
No group claimed responsibility for the rocket attack.
Laghman is one of the volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan, where armed militant groups including the Taliban are active in a number of districts and often carry out terrorist activities.
