AT-KABUL: Forty-five Taliban insurgents including their shadow governor for Kandahar province were killed on the Kandahar-Uruzgan highway, security officials said Monday.
“These Taliban insurgents were killed in an operation launched by the security forces,” Dost Mohammad Nayab, spokesman for Uruzgan province said.
He said that 22 others were wounded during the day-long operation.
Kandahar Police Spokesperson, Zaiurahman Durani confirmed the death of 45 Taliban fighters including their shadow governor for Kandahar in Kandahar-Uruzgan highway, saying that Taliban sustain heavy casualties in the operation.
He said that still dead bodies of Taliban left on the battle site.
Durani said that there was Taliban’s threat along the highway, but landmines were still a danger in some areas.
