AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Well-known senator and senior leader of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Usman Kakar said that Pakistan has no intention to stop interference in Afghanistan.
“No one shall live with this false belief that Pakistan will help the Afghan peace process,” Mashaal Radio quoted him as saying.
He said that Islamabad has no intension to stop interference in national issues of Afghanistan, “let alone cooperation” with Kabul.
Kakar furthered that interference in Afghan affairs is leading Pakistan towards destruction.
Another Afghan-Pashtun nationalist leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), Afrasiab Khattak also said that Islamabad has not fulfilled the promises, it had given to President Ashraf Ghani when relations of the two neighboring countries were at lowest point last December.
Recalling the promises he said that Pakistan vowed to bring the Taliban leaders, living in Pakistan, to the table of negotiations. “Pakistan promised to take action against all those Taliban who are not ready to talk, and continue to carry out attacks against the Afghan government. However, Pakistan has not fulfilled these promises,” Khattak said.
He said that it seems that Kabul had no option but to take the issue to the United Nations Security Council.
Analyst, Dr. Christine Fair, has said that Islamabad would not take action against the militant groups such as Jaish-e-Muhammad, Damatu Dawa and the Taliban, who are enjoying safe havens in Pakistan, until the country was pressurized or punished.
She said that role of the United Nations, particularly the United States is very important in this regard.
Last week, President Ashraf Ghani announced his government will take the issue to the UN Security Council, if Pakistan not honored its promises it had made under QCG.
