AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Police rescued a teenage boy kidnapped in southeastern Khost province arresting a suspect, an official said on Friday.
Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat, the provincial police chief, told newsmen in Khost City that a 14 years old boy identified as Attiqullah had been kidnapped in Ismailkhel district three months ago.
“The boy was held in a mountainous area of Musakhel district,” Pajhwok Afghan News quoted him, as saying. “He was rescued as result of a police raid,” he said, adding that the freed boy was reunited with his family.
Without giving further details, he said that a man armed with an AK-47 rifle was arrested during the raid who was being investigated.
“The kidnappers had demanded $300,000 in ransom, Pajhwok quoted, Asif, the boy’s father, as saying.
“I went to police for help as I was unable to arrange such big amount of money,” Asif said, asking the judicial organs to award deterrent punishment to the kidnapper.
Attiqullah, the kidnapped boy, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he was severally beaten by his captors. He complained of being forced by the kidnappers to carry heavy stones from dawn to dusk.
“In front of my home, I was bundled into a car by four men, who thrashed me and loaded me with heavy rocks. Both my hands are injured,” Attiqullah was quoted by Pajhwok, as lamenting.
