AT-KABUL: Eleven civilians, including women and children, have been killed when a vehicle they were travelling in hit a roadside bomb in northern Baghlan province, an official said on Friday.
Baghlan police spokesman, Jawad Basharat, told Afghanistan Times that the incident took place on Thursday evening around 06:00pm, in which eleven members of a family were killed. “Three children were also wounded, and were immediacy shifted to the hospital,” he said.
“Five children, two women and four men were killed in the roadside blast,” he said.
Three wounded children had been transferred to the hospital, provincial public officials said, adding that their health condition was stable.
No group, including the Taliban insurgents, has commented on the incident.
For long time, the Taliban and other insurgent outfits are using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to target security forces. But as a matter of fact, IEDs had killed more civilians than military personnel. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan in its latest report said that at least 600 civilians were killed and 1,343 others received injuries due to IED explosives in the first quarter of 2016.
