AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Taliban insurgents on Saturday shot dead a tribal elder in the capital of southern Kandahar province, an official said.
“The tribal elder, Hidayatullah, was gunned down in the Aino Mina area at around 10am,” provincial governor’s spokesman Samim Khpalwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The assaulters fled the spot, but the security forces had conducted a hunt to detain them, he said.
The Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, said that the tribal elder was working on the National Directorate of Security, and to the Shah Wali Karzai, a brother of former President Hamid Karzai.
However, Khpalwak, told Pajhwok that the tribal elder who killed by Taliban had no government job.
