AT-KABUL: Six Taliban insurgents were killed and 10 others injured in a clash with the Afghan security forces in the Sighan district of Bamyan province, provincial office said Saturday.
Bamyan governor’s office said in a statement that Taliban fighters attacked the police checkpoints but faced tough resistance of security forces.
The statement said that six insurgents were killed, 10 injured and two others including a commander were arrested.
According to the press statement, three police officers were also killed and five others wounded.
The statement mentioned that 100 Taliban fighters took part in the attack to capture the local security checkpoints, but they were confronted with rough security resistance. The attack started at 9 am and continued up to late Friday night.
“The Taliban insurgents attack from Tala-o Barfak district of Baghlan province after dispatching the specials security forces in the area they were scattered and retreated,” said the statement.
Bamyan is the only safe province of the country’s 34 provinces.
Provincial officials claimed that Taliban militants attempted to insecure Bamyan province through its neighboring provinces.
