AT-KABUL: Addressing cabinet meeting on Sunday, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah said that the government was close to concluding a peace deal with the Hezb-i-Islma Afghanistan (HIA), led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.
“No privileges against the constitution and national interests would be offered to the HIA for their return,” Abdullah assured the cabinet.
“It has been for two months that talks between members of High Peace Council (HPC) and the HIA delegation are underway, and the government is close to ink peace pact,” he told cabinet meeting.
He lauded the willingness of the HIA to give nod to the peace talks of the Afghan government.
Once again he assured that the National Unity Government remained constant in bringing peace and security in the country.
