AT-KABUL: The Ministry of Economy on Tuesday claimed that Afghan investors have invested around $80 billion abroad due to lack of required facilities, including adequate power.
Speaking at the joint seminar with Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the Minister of Economy, Abdul Sattar Murad, said that there is no sufficient power to encourage private sectors to invest, and give new life to the national economy.
“The government should pay heed to domestic productions if it wants to see Afghanistan self-sufficient in terms of economy,” he said.
Moreover, he termed corruption in public sectors another reason behind lack of investment in the country.
“Existence of corruption in almost everywhere is the main reason behind government failure towards development and economic growth in the country,” he said.
“The endemic corruption is a great challenge against the path of economic progress, and hindering government efforts to strengthen national economy,” he said.
Hinging to the widespread corruption, he asked the DABS to produce electricity from domestic sources.
