AT-KABUL: A multi-million power project, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan (TA) which is part of the TUTAP electricity supply project, would pass through Salang route, assigned officials to resolve TA controversies, hinted on Tuesday.
Briefing the newsmen, Minister of Economy, Abdul Sattar Murad, who is also a member of the commission, said the assigned officials have concluded work on 500kV electricity transmission line.
He added that delegation from Bamyan province was also present during the commission meetings, and accepted to receive adequate power. The delegation agreed to leave the previous route (Salang) unchanged.
“The commission laid down satisfactory demand in front of protesting delegation, where they accepted the decision of the commission,” he said, adding that President Ashraf Ghani would announce final decision on TA route, as soon as possible.
“The core demand of the delegation was to receive adequate electricity, and the government is ready to meet this demand,” he added.
The decision comes after TA electricity route had sparked criticisms among the Afghan masses. Some people staged protests in favor of Salang route, where some wanted change in the route.
