By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: At least 11 people were killed after a court bus was targeted by a suicide bomber in Paghman area at the outskirts of Kabul city Wednesday morning, officials said.
“A suicide bomber blew himself up by hitting into appeal court of Wardak province bus in Bagh-e-Dawood area at around 8:30 am,” Najeeb Danish, deputy spokesman for ministry of interior told Afghanistan Times.
He said that 11 people including suicide bomber were killed and four others were injured.
The court staffs were on the way to duty, while their vehicle came under attack in the area, he added.
Danish said that the wounded people shifted to hospital and an investigation was underway.
Farid Obaidi, head of Kabul police criminal investigation, said that “this is an act by enemies of Afghan people”, referring to Taliban militants.
“The incident took place in an area, where no military and security posts are located. It was only a residential area.”
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The insurgents’ spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said the attack was carried out in retaliation for the six militants who were hanged by the government last month.
Former President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the attack, calling that against all human and Islamic principles.
It is pertained to mention that recently government of Afghanistan hanged up six Taliban fighters in Kabul.
