AT-KABUL: A notorious commander of the Islamic State known as Daesh, along with his three associates were killed in an airstrike in central Wardak province, security official said on Monday.
Briefing newsmen, Ministry of Defence spokesman, Dawlat Waziri said that the airstrike targeted Daesh commander and his bodyguard on Syedabad district late on Sunday.
It is worth mentioning that Mujahid is the first Daesh commander killed in Maidan Wardak. However, the Daesh group did not comment into the matter so far.
Airstrike against insurgent outfits had been intensified in the country, especially in the past month, in which scores of the insurgents, including Daesh fighters were killed in different airstrikes conducted by Afghan and US forces. Recently six Daesh fighters were killed in a US drone strike in Nangarhar province.
