By Mansoor Faizy-KABUL: At least 17 passengers died and 38 others were wounded in a traffic accident in the western Farah province, an official said Saturday.
Provincial Spokesman Nasier Meihri told Afghanistan Times that the accident took place in Bala Buluk district after a bus driver lost control due to high speed. “The bus overturned in Chakab area of the district.”
Heath officials said that they have received more than 30 wounded passengers. “Two of them are in critical condition.”
Last month, 73 people were killed and dozens of others injured after two passenger buses and a fuel taker burst into flames following a head-on collision in eastern Ghazni province.
In that time, provincial governor spokesman Javid Salangi said that the two buses, carrying about 125 passengers from Kabul to Kandahar, collided with the tanker, setting of a fire that quickly engulfed all three vehicles.
The Afghan army unites went to the scene of the accident in Moqor district and managed to save some passengers, but many of the injured were in a critical condition, he said.
Women and children were among the dead and wounded passengers, Ismale Kawoosi, spokesman for the Public Health Ministry told Afghanistan Times that time.
There is no denying to the fact that carelessness and recklessness of drivers are the main factor behind the car accidents.
The drivers’ sloppiness is very clear to all as previously, 15 people were died when a vehicle carrying guests of a wedding returning to eastern Kunar province.
In addition to that, six people were also received injures and the incident took place in Chapa Dara district of the province.
Provincial security officials said that the picking carrying guests to a wedding ceremony flipped over and fell into a canyon, clamming 15 lies of the guests and wounded six others.
