By Akhtar M. Nikzad-KABUL: President’s special representative for reform and good governance Ahmad Zia Massoud criticized the law enforcement agencies for being weak against corruption, calling corruption a big threat before economic growth.
Massoud stressed that corruption had become a big national challenge hampering all the aspects of development in the country.
“Thousands of hectares of lands were usurped and many mafias are working in importing of oil, but there is no power administration to prosecute the grabbers and mafia in the court,” he lamented.
He termed the simplification of old management procedures, establishment of electronic governance, enforcement of law, observation and auditing as the major measures for fighting against corruption.
“Unfortunately, there is no considerable cooperation among ministry of interior attorney general and Supreme Courte to initiate joint struggle against corruption,” he said.
Massoud asked the relevant authorities to bring necessary reforms in their administrations to start a joint cooperation against corruption.
He acknowledged that for rooting out the corruption, it requires a power government to perform its authority in all levels if government don’t want to do such measure actually corruption would spread out more in the country.
Director of Supreme Audit Office, Mohammad Sharif Sharifi claimed money criminal dossiers have remained without prosecution in the judiciary organs since 2000. He asked the judiciary organs to accelerate the prosecution of criminal dossiers.
Sharifi alleged that corruption in national budget is equal to the budget which the government earns during a fiscal year.
He termed lack of cooperation among law enforcement agencies as the main factor of corruption,
“Despite a lot of vacant posts in the ministries, unfortunately engagement of contracted employees with high dollar salary creates big challenges in the civil administrations,” he lamented.
Attorney General, Farid Hamidi said that corruption is greatest danger for people.
He pointed out that there are close cooperation among law enforcement agencies against corruption, adding that government and the judiciary organs need to act seriously and speedy against corruption to attract the trust of people. “We want from people to aware us about corruption cases in the governmental administrations.”
