By Akhtar M. Nikzad-KABUL: Ministry of Interior accused Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence of supporting the armed insurgents in fighting against Afghan National Security Forces in Helmand province.
Deputy minister Abdul Rahman told senators that the ISI directly supports Taliban, Lashkar-e Taiba and al-Qaeda terrorist groups in operations against Afghan troops.
“The groups are supported by ISI to attack particularity in Helmand, Faryab, Ghazni, Kunar, Nangarhar, Uruzgan, Badghis, Sar-e-Pul and Baghlan provinces,” he asserted.
He stressed that the ANSF in close cooperation imposed heavy casualties for the Taliban insurgents, adding that security situation in Uruzgan is critical and fighting against rebels is going on in various parts of this province.
Rahman did not offer details about factors of insecurity in this province, but said that fresh troops were dispatched to the province to stave off the enemy’s plots.
Rahmani said that the ANSF are ready to defend from the territory of the country against the foreign plots.
He said that Taliban has plan to insecurity the highways in a bid to create horror and fear among people.
Some senators expressed their concerns about conflict between Junbish-e-Islami and Jamiat-e-Islami parties in the northern provinces.
MP Abdul Ali Rasoli said that hostility between the two parties in the Faryab, Sar-e Pul and Maimana provinces created security challenges for people.
Rahman said that sectarian hostility in the northern provinces creates security challenges.
He asked the government to act seriously against this sectarian hostility and give particular order for police to interfere in the fighting.
“Unfortunately, the police are misused by political leaders and it creates concerns for us we hope government takes the issue serious,” he added.
