By Akhtar M. Nikzad-KABUL: The Asian Development Bank on Sunday inked an agreement with Afghan power department (De Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat) to extend 220kw electricity line from Doshi district of Baghlan to Bamyan province.
The agreement was signed between Qudratullah Delawari, chief executive of power department and Thomas Panila, general director of Asian Bank in the presence of President Ashraf Ghani in the presidential palace.
Minister of Energy and Water Ali Ahmad Usmani said that for transmission line of 220kw electricity from Doshi to Bamyan province, the government designed double circuit which can transmit 300 megawatt electricity to this province.
He said that for distribution of electricity, one substation with capacity of 32 megawatt and one transformer with capacity of 20kw would be installed in the center of Bamyan province.
“All central provinces would be benefited from 300 megawatt power and it will provide adequate electrolyte for small and medium industries,” he added.
Sayed Sadat Mansur Nadiri, Minister of Urban Development said the project would take at least three years.
“The practical work of the project will start in August and will take around three years and 20,000 families will benefit the electricity in the first stage,” he mentioned.
He stressed that according to presidential decree, the relevant administrations are obligated to provide electricity transmission plan for other central provinces within the next six months.
Thomas Panella, Director of Asian Development Bank said that by signing of the agreement, electricity would extend in the provinces where people have been deprived of lightness for a long term.
He added that the project would not only strengthen the economic and commercial activities, but also paves the ground for improvement of the livelihood of local people.
Delawari said the project would be put for bidding in the October of current year and the practical work of the project will start at in the beginning of 2017 and will complete in 2018.
