AT-KABUL: Four people including tow education officials have been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in central Ghor province, local officials said on Sunday.
They kidnapping took place on Saturday when they were on their way to the provincial capital with the same name.
An official in the provincial education directorate who wished to remain anonymous said that it is not clear who did this abduction. “It would be soon to blame Taliban and other insurgent outfits for the kidnapping.”
No insurgent outfits, including the Taliban who often carry out kidnappings have commented into this so far.
In the past one month, the Taliban insurgents intensified hostage takings across the highways, especially in northern parts of the country.
In May, the group took hostage at least 200 passengers from highways, where the Taliban killed more than 20 of them in allegation of working with the government.
Earlier this month, the Taliban kidnapped nearly 50 passengers as they were travelling in Kunduz-Takhr highway.
