AT-KABUL: Britain is to donate 25 million Pounds to Afghan government for Afghanistan Investment Climate Program (AICP).
“The AICP will help improve regulations and government capacity; improve investor protection; develop risk-sharing instruments such as Public Private Partnerships (PPP), and provide loans to women entrepreneurs and improve the legal status of women in business,” Finance minister Eklil Hakimi said.
He furthered that the donation would be spent through national budget for supporting Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA).
He thanked British government for helping Afghan authority in the past 15 years.
“Inside cooperation for security organs, Britain has so far granted US$ 4 billion for Afghanistan reconstruction from which 1.6 billion has been spent over 13 different projects.
Hakimi said that Afghan government was committed to spend the aid with transparency and a particular mechanism will establish to monitor the process.
Economists believe that if the government could not spend the international donation through a transparent process, the international community would not trust to transfer aids through Afghan government.
“The government should have strict observation over international aids and can give assurance to the donors from transparent expenditure, otherwise international communicate would not allocate their aids through Afghan government,” said Shamsullah Radfar an economist.
