AT-KABUL: Twenty-nine Taliban fighters were killed and 10 others were wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours, officials said Wednesday.
Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the national army with the cooperation of the national police and the National Directorate of Security (NDS), conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Paktika, Ghazni, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Farah, Ghor, Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations, 29 rebels including six Daesh fighters were killed and 10 others were injured,” the ministry said.
“Twenty-one rebels were arrested and handed over to judicial organs for further inquiry.”
It said the army discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
Unfortunately five army soldier were killed in the operations, according to the statement.
