AT-KABUL: Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) in collaboration with the Habib Gulzar Company have distributed food packages among 1,000 poor families in Kabul.
The distribution is part of a Ramadan campaign by the ACCI and Habib Gulzar Company.
Food packages including a bag of 50kg flour, one sack of 24kg rice and five kg cooking oil were distributed among 1,000 poor families on Thursday, said the deputy chief executive of ACCI Khanjan Alkozai.
He said that the needy families include employees of governmental and nongovernmental organizations as well as families of the martyrs, who were selected through a transparent process.
Besides distribution of food items, Afghan companies are providing Iftar dinner to over 50,000 fasting people on daily basis, he added.
While expressing concern over growing economic challenges, Alkozai urged the traders to help needy people during the holy month of Ramadan.
