AT-KABUL: Sixty-six Taliban fighters were killed and 30 others were wounded in different operations launched by the military in the past 24 hours, security authorities said Wednesday.
The defense ministry said in a statement that the national army with the cooperation of the national police and national directorate of security conducted a series of operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Khost, Paktika, Logar, Ghazni, Kandahar, Zabul, Farah, Nimroz, Sar-e-Pul, Faryab, Takhar and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations, 66 rebels including 11 Daesh fighters were killed and 30 others including 12 Daesh terrorists were injured,” the statement added.
“Two rebels were arrested and handed over to judicial organs for further inquiry.”
It said that the security forces seized and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
Unfortunately nine army soldier were killed in the operations, according to the statement.
