AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least 62 Taliban insurgents have been killed in different crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces against them across the country within the past 24 hours, security officials said on Friday.
In a press statement issued here, the Ministry of Defense said that Afghan security forces launched these operations in different areas of Nangarhar, Paktika, Wardak, Ghazni, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Takhar and Helmand provinces, in which 62 anti-state armed militants were killed and 27 others wounded. “Two insurgents were detained during operation.”
23 Taliban insurgents were killed in Maiwand district of Kandahar province, it said, asserting that five insurgent commanders along with his 15 associates were also killed in Helmand province.
Moreover, nine insurgents were killed and seven others received injuries in Raghistan district of northeastern Badakhshan province, the statement said.
Seven Afghan National Army soldiers were also killed during fight against the enemies of the country, the MoD lamented in the statement.
Militant outfits did not comment into operation so far.
