AT-KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday said that it will establish new health facilities in uncovered rural areas across the country.
“Based on findings of 2015 health survey, despite some improvements in the health services, still the ministry faced some critical challenges,” Public Health Minister, Ferozuddin Feroz said.
He said that inaccessibility of almost three million of people to health services in two hours of walking distance in the rural areas, is one of the main problem.
He added that after analysis of robust information, evidence and peoples’ requests for health services, the ministry has identified areas where there is no access to health facilities. “The ministry would take steps to address the issue as soon as possible.
“The ministry decided to establish 379 new health facilities, and 714 new health posts throughout the country in the current year,” he added.
“Through these facilities three million people in more than 5000 villages would be provided health facilities across the country.”
“In addition to that, 310 health sub-centers would be upgraded in terms of equipment and personnel for provision of immunization services,” he asserted.
Despite that, the ministry would also establish 15 mobile health teams for provision of health services in the Kuchi (nomadic) residential areas, he added.
Likewise, the ministry would also take bold steps to ensure jobs for more than 2,428 health staffers throughout the country, he noted.
“Improving access to health services is the main priority of the ministry,” he said, adding that they would spare no efforts unturned to fulfill its commitments with cooperation of international partners.
“One these commitments translated into action, would ensure people’s accessibility to the health services in the hard-to-reach, insecure, and Kuchi (nomadic) areas,” he underlined.
