AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least two civilians were killed and four others received injuries on Friday morning after a roadside bomb went off in Faryab province, officials said.
The bomb went off in front of a shop in Chaghatak village of Almar district of the province, a provincial public uprising commander, Gen. Ghulam Farooq, told TOLONews, adding that a policeman was also wounded in the incident.
The injured were brought to the provincial hospital, public health officials in Faryab said, adding that two of them are in critical condition.
In the past, a key commander of the Taliban along with his 65 fighters, renounced violence and joined the peace process in the province. Recently, the First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum launched military operations in a bid to suppress militants in the province.
The fighters surrendered to the Afghan security forces in Khwajah Sabzposh district of the province.
Office of the vice president, that time, informed that 115 Taliban insurgents renounced violence by laying down arms in Astana Baba and Dast-e-Laili areas of the province.
