AT-KABUL: Seventy-eight Taliban fighters were killed and 6 2others were wounded in different operations within past 24 hours, officials said Saturday.
In a press release, Ministry of Defense said that the national army with the cooperation of the national police and the National Directorate of Security conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Samangan, Takhar, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations, 78 rebels including three Chechen fighters were killed and 62 others were injured,” the statement said.
The army also arrested 22 insurgents and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry.
“It discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.”
Unfortunately, four army soldiers were killed in the operations, according to the statement.
