AT-KABUL: Police have pushed Taliban back while the insurgents had attacked a district in Faryab province, interior ministry said Sunday.
“A group of armed Taliban stormed a police outpost in the Kohistan district, but they faced with though police resistance,” the ministry said in a statement.
The statement added that 17 armed Taliban insurgents including a senior member of Taliban Mulavi Amin Toofan were killed and 22 others wounded.
According to the statement, Toofan was involved in many terrorist and subversive activities in this district and other areas of Faryab province.
Afghan National Police also seized some amount of light and heavy ammunitions from the scene as well and during this attack, three policemen were wounded. Said the statement
